Edyfra awarded the best project leveraging technology in Education

Maseno University Computing and informatics students’ association (MUCISA) participated in a two day Western  Region Research and Innovation Consortium (WRRIC) event organised at Kisii university alongside Rongo university students.

The team excelled in the multidisciplinary hackathon bagging meticulous trophies for their innovations led by Enactus Maseno and Edyfra. 
Farm AI (Enactus Maseno): This is an AI-powered farming assistant which helps Kenyan farmers make smarter  decisions with weather pattern predictions, crop recommendations and an AI chatbot for instant support. It offers real-time image analysis for disease detection, personalized farming tips and a marketplace to connect farmers with buyers, suppliers and financial aid. Designed for all technical levels, it includes a user-friendly web app, USSD support and multi-language options in Kiswahili and English for easy access. 

Edyfra: The Hive Mind Revolution is an AI-powered learning ecosystem that tailors education to each student’s needs. With intelligent study partners and adaptive learning paths, it transforms studying into a dynamic,  personalized experience. This is the future of learning—smart, collaborative and mastery building. Opinionminer,  Pystay, ISIRS, Blockchain certification, Kazi Near and Tradex projects from MUCISA hackathon were also ranked high in the multidisciplinary consortium.

The team was joined by the faculty’s postgraduate students Mr. Ezekiel Maina, Nelson Odhiambo, Edwin Onkoba as well as Nevile Odhiambo a software developer and a faculty alumni.

This was the first edition of the event nationally with attendance of Avenue Hospital, ICTA and MCAAI (Maseno Centre for Applied Artificial Intelligence). Through the engagement MCAAI announced at the event that the IndabaX Kenya Machine Learning Community will host the next IndabaX event at Maseno University, urging both students nation wide and professionals to actively attend and participate in this informative machine learning conference.
