Visit by a Team of Scholars from Lutheran University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg, Germany led by Prof. Dr. Uwe Kaspers to Maseno University
A team of two (2) Scholars and five (5) students led by Prof. Dr. Uwe Kaspers of Lutheran University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg, Germany, visited Maseno University and paid a courtesy call to the office of the Director, Linkages, Outreach & Collaborations (LOC). Their main area of focus was Early Childhood Education where Prof. Uwe Kaspers briefed Maseno University team led by Director LOC on high demand for graduates in early childhood education in Germany. He further emphasized on building relationship with Universities in Kenya that offer similar programme such Maseno University.
Prof. Uwe Kaspers mentioned that, the visit was important as it will give an opportunity to learn about each other’s Early Childhood Education (ECDE) syllabi and potentially leading to future cooperation on joint lectures, exchange of students and faculty members, and further programmes, such as those at Master’s level. Later, there was a lecture on ECDE where areas of focus were:
- Demographics (Comparison: Germany – Kenya)
- An overview of the Germany welfare system
- The importance of ECDE in Germany and Kenya
- How digitalization changes ECDE
- Thoughts on digitization and data security (the European perspective)
- The application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in social services
- The German welfare system: benefits and current challenges.

Both the Ag. Director, LOC Prof. Collins Ouma and the Dean, School of Education Prof Maureen Olel was positive with the deliberations and pledged full support for any future collaborations and exchange programs.
