In a world constantly driven by technological advancements and innovative medical tools, the landscape of the health care sector continues to change, but the timeless significance of the stethoscope remains unshaken. In the recent stethoscope ceremony event that was conducted on August 5, 2023, Maseno University Medical Students celebrated the age-old tradition of the stethoscope ceremony, paying homage to the roots of the medical profession while discussing the healthcare sector and beyond through panel discussions, keynote addresses, and speaker presentations from seasoned professionals, thus bridging the gap between past and present while reflecting on the future.

The theme for this auspicious event was, ‘Honouring the Tradition of the Stethoscope while Navigating the Complexities of Medical Practise’ and it encompassed talks around Patient-centered care approaches, Mental health, Medical Research, Mentorship, Medical entrepreneurship, advocacy, and Leadership. 

The event was graced by Dr. Gregory Ganda (Chief Officer Health and Sanitation, Kisumu County) as the chief guest, Prof. Stephen Ogendo, Dr. Bonnke Arunga, Dr. Kevin Bartay, Dr. Diana Abuodha, Carol Oreng, Dr. Iwaret Otiti, Dr. Immaculate Opondo, Dr. Darwin Ambuka, Dr. Edwin Rono, Dr. Catherine Kanari, Dr. Mwalimu Eboso, and Dr. Vitalis Ogola as guest speakers.
