Greetings! On behalf of the Academic and Student Affairs Division of Maseno University, I welcome you to our University and its website.
We are pleased that you have the opportunity to visit and interact with us on our many exciting projects and the programmes we offer. The website provides an opportunity to showcase the wonderful work on student development, support departments and what students are doing on and outside Campus, responding to the call to contribute to knowledge generation and developing the society at large.
We live in an era where advances in Information and Communication Technology have forced their way into every aspect of our life, with University education being no exception. A major component of the change, therefore, was the infusion of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into all undergraduate programs offered at the University. Today, University administrators globally are faced with the challenge of delivering quality education and services meeting, if not exceeding, the expectations of today’s more informed students, more selective employers, and more scrutinizing Governments.
At Maseno University, we have well-defined learning outcomes at all degrees-program levels, and we have committed and caring faculty who recognize that while both teaching and learning are important activities in the educational process, it is learning that is more important. We therefore seek to create a student-centered learning environment, where the sole purpose behind everything we do is to enrich our students’ learning experience.
With fourteen (14) Schools, and programmes offered in fifty two (52) departments, we are the Academic heart of the University. Maseno University is a source of limitless opportunity for intellectual growth, for engaging faculty in and out of the classroom, and for nearly any academic interest our students may seek to pursue.
Our curricula offer a broad range of courses to study, encompassing social and interpretive sciences, statistics, information technology, humanities, education, business, medicine, public health, gender studies, agriculture, and other professional courses. The Division’s mission is to enhance access to quality university education through admission of qualified students into their programme choices, and through quality teaching, examination and high level research.
As a research-intensive University, we recognize the quality of research carried out by our exceptional faculty. Our lecturers and students focus on intellectual issues and research challenges of global importance, and we are extremely proud of their research achievements and their scientific publications in reputable international journals. I encourage you to browse our website to learn more about our academic programs, research centers and supportive University community.
I wish you every success in your academic pursuit.
