Image

Maseno University has launched a week-long mental health awareness campaign in partnership with Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital, aimed at promoting Mental Health awareness and wellbeing among staff and students.
The campaign brings together members of the University community to create awareness of Mental Health challenges, address stigma and encourage individuals experiencing Mental Health difficulties to seek timely professional support.
The initiative provides an opportunity for staff and students to engage with Mental Health professionals and gain information on recognising Mental Health concerns, supporting colleagues and fellow students, and accessing appropriate care and referral services.
The partnership with Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital underscores the importance of collaboration in strengthening mental health awareness and support within institutions of higher learning.

The week-long campaign will culminate on 10 October 2026 at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) in Kisumu, coinciding with the commemoration of World Mental Health Week.
The culmination will bring together stakeholders and members of the University community to reinforce the importance of Mental Health and encourage continued conversations around psychological wellbeing.
Maseno University is encouraging staff and students to participate actively in the campaign and contribute to building a supportive and inclusive environment where mental health concerns can be discussed openly and without stigma.
The Universty is promoting the overall wellbeing of its community and ensuring that those experiencing Mental Health challenges are encouraged to seek the support they need.
