Maseno University Inspected by Health Records and Information Management Board for Accreditation of School of Public Health
The engagement, held at the Vice-Chancellor’s Boardroom and led by Acting Deputy Vice- Chancellor, Administration Finance and Development Prof. David Ongarora, brought together members of the University management, faculty and the HRIMB delegation. The visit focused on evaluating key areas including governance structures, curriculum delivery and student support systems.
During the session, the University leadership reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence, continuous improvement and collaboration with professional bodies to strengthen training and career outcomes for students. The HRIMB team noted that the programme is supported by qualified and licensed academic staff with strong integration of Information technology in Health Informatics.
The Board also commended the University’s investment in modern learning facilities including well-equipped computer laboratories, a robust digital library and adequate teaching spaces. In addition, structured student rotations in accredited health facilities supported by formal partnerships were highlighted as a key strength in enhancing practical training and industry exposure.
Currently enrolling over 160 students, the BSc. Public Health continues to register steady growth, backed by an effective quality assurance framework and access to digital learning resources for both students and staff.
The inspection team further engaged with students, who demonstrated strong understanding of data analysis and its application in healthcare settings through hands-on learning and reporting exercises.
Health Records and Information Management Board praised Maseno University for maintaining high standards across all assessed areas, describing the institution as a model of quality in programme delivery. The Board is expected to release its final accreditation report in the coming weeks.
