Maseno University Hosts Post-Award Alignment Meeting with M-PESA Foundation on Regional Digital ICT Hub project.

Maseno University hosted members from M-PESA Foundation on 17th June 2025 at the Vice -chancellors boardroom as part of the ongoing collaboration to establish a Digital ICT hub at the university's main campus.
The meeting marked a significant milestone in advancing the post-award phase of the project. Discussions focused on refining the implementation framework, clarifying roles and expectations, and aligning key action points to ensure smooth delivery of the initiative.
Leading the team, Nicholas Wechuli of M-PESA Foundation presented on the post-award framework and outlined sustainability mechanisms for the project.
 

Maseno university Vice Chancellor Prof. Julius O. Nyabundi applauded the initiative, terming it timely and transformative. He urged stakeholders to fast-track the implementation and emphasized the university’s readiness to collaborate. He also appointed a committee among Maseno university staff to coordinate the project.

The project, led by M-PESA Foundation at Maseno University, aims to implement a Digital ICT Hub Learning Centre that will serve both students and the surrounding community. The hub will offer training in general ICT use, positioning digital literacy as a vital economic enabler for present and future development. Additionally, the initiative is aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly by extending access to ICT training at rural, regional, and national levels.
