The Maseno University Computing and Informatics Students Association (MUCISA), in collaboration with the Maseno Centre for Applied Artificial Intelligence (MCAAI), hosted a vibrant hackathon focused on Smart Campus Solutions. The event was guided by MUCISA’s motto, "Embracing Technology for Innovators" and centred around three key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Quality Education (SDG 4), Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure (SDG 9), and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10) on 8th March 2025. This event fostered interdisciplinary collaboration, with participants from various faculties uniting to develop cutting-edge solutions for a smarter campus. Graced by esteemed faculty members from the School of Computing and Informatics and panel constituted by MCAAI & Kencorpus researchers, postgraduate students and industry leaders from Amazon Networks, Web3 Clubs, ICT Authority, Codevertex and Meliora. The hackathon provided an enriching platform for students to showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills.

The hackathon showcased a diverse range of innovative projects, each leveraging cutting-edge technology for theme oriented solution. The award winning projects were:
Edyfra: The Hive Mind Revolution is an AI-powered learning ecosystem that tailors education to each student’s needs. With intelligent study partners and adaptive learning paths, it transforms studying into a dynamic, personalized experience. This is the future of learning—smart, collaborative and built for mastery.

Kazi Near: A decentralized job marketplace on the NEAR blockchain, connecting freelancers  and employers with secure, transparent smart contract payments. By using NEAR tokens, it reduces fraud, delays and transaction fees, enabling global job access.
