Following the official announced by Kenyan government of the third wave of the COVID-19 outbreak in Kenya in mid-March, Maseno University enhanced its fight against the Coronavirus by including COVID-19 vaccination exercise for its staff at the University Health facility. This initiative becomes the latest among the other combination prevention measures the University adopted since early 2020 in a bid to continue to safeguard and sustain the health and safety of its workforce.

Together with the AIDS Control Unit (ACU), the University Health Services personnel vaccinated staff who turned out in large numbers for the COVID-19 vaccine. Alongside the vaccination, other checks for Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) were offered since the NCDs are comorbidities to severe illness in COVID-19.

The health and wellness event dubbed “Varsity Health and Wellness Drive, commenced on 26th March 2021 and shall run up to 1st April 2021 at the University Health grounds. Among the integrated health services offered were: Blood pressure (BPP check, Body Mass Index (BMI), HIV Testing and Random blood sugar (RBS) check.
