The Ag. Vice Chancellor graces the closing of Maseno University SACCO Customer Service Week.
In a major boost to the ongoing rebirth of the Maseno University SACCO, the Ag. Vice Chancellor officially graced the closing ceremony of the institution's Customer Service Week on Friday, 9th October 2026. The event, held at the SACCO offices in Maseno township, marked the culmination of a week-long engagement aimed at rebuilding relations and celebrating the society's membership.
Speaking during the occasion, Prof. Erick Nyambedha commended the leadership for steering the institution out of its previous financial turbulence.
"I am impressed by the fact that the current board of directors has made very deliberate efforts in clearing the debts that had bedeviled the SACCO for many years," the Ag. Vice Chancellor stated. "I know many members left because the SACCO was on it’s deathbed, so to speak. There is a need to regain members' trust and persuade them to come back" , he added.
To demonstrate management's confidence in the institution's turnaround, the Ag. Vice Chancellor announced a significant step toward boosting enrollment. "On my end, I have requested all the Management committee members to join. It's now upon you as a board to also market the SACCO aggressively, but you can only succeed if members see progress in the rebuilding."
The SACCO also had the honour of hosting the Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) for Partnerships, Research and Innovation (PRI), Prof. Regina Nyunja and the DVC for Administration, Finance and Development (AFD), Prof. David Ongarora on Thursday, 8th October 2026. Both senior University officials were full of praise for the revival of the SACCO and the impressive efforts made by the current board. Demonstrating their support, both DVCs pledged to join the SACCO and actively help market it to the wider university community.
Throughout the Customer Service Week, the SACCO Board of Directors and staff utilized the entire period to engage with members at a personal level. The interactive environment allowed members to freely air their views, receiving candid responses regarding the SACCO's financial health, operations, and future strategies. As a token of appreciation, visiting members were presented with various gifts to honor their steadfast loyalty and commitment during the institution's challenging times.
The event concluded with a presentation ceremony where the Ag. Vice Chancellor awarded certificates to the Board of Directors, staff, and select members, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the sustained growth and revival of the SACCO.
