Miss World Kenya 2022( An Alumnus of Maseno University)

The current Miss World Kenya (2022/23) is an alumnus of Maseno University, class of 2020. Chantou Kwamboka was crowned Miss Kenya 2022 on December 10. The 50th edition of the Miss Kenya contest was broadcast live on NTV, from Two Rivers Mall in Nairobi.

First and Second runner went to Faith Wanjiku and Wabaiya Kariuki, respectively.

The Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports, and Arts, Ababu Namwamba was the guest of honour and crowned Miss Kenya 2022. In his speech, the Cabinet Secretary highlighted the beneficial impact of the Miss Kenya Organisation. President William Ruto will also present the national flag to Miss Kenya 2022, as a symbol of recognition.

Chantou is overwhelmed at her achievement, she said,“Last night was one for the books! I still haven't soaked it all in yet. I'm happy, blessed, grateful and highly favoured. I smile, cry and laugh all at the same time. This is truly a dream come true. I am grateful for how this journey has unfolded. For the overwhelming love and support, I will forever be indebted. We dream, God aligns for sure. I am honoured to be your new Queen. May God bless and oversee this new chapter…. With great power comes great responsibility... As I start this new reign, I'm committing to my society, my organisation, my country and the world to be of service and to truly make our planet better than it is…”

Chantou Kwamboka is 24 years old and from Turkana County. She is a Medical Bio-Technology graduate from The Maseno University. In addition, she works as a model, catwalk coach and actor. Chantou says “the environment is always close to my heart.” She founded “Project Eden” and hosts a podcast on it. The project involves Chantou and volunteers making a better and more sustainable local environment. A vast part of their work consists of installing green walls in schools and educating pupils on the environment. Chantou is involved in many charity activities. She is a member of Kibu Drive Community, providing necessities to children in need, in Bungoma County. In addition, Chantou participated in ‘Chapo Fest.’ She visited special needs and orphan schools to cook them tasty chapatis, interact with and donate to the children. In her spare time, Chantou enjoys travelling, art and skateboading.

Congratulations Chantou! She will now represent Kenya at the 71st Miss World Final, where Karolina Bielawska will crown her successor.
