INTRODUCTION
The end of the cold war and the triumph of capitalism over socialism have resulted into a new global order that revolves around a multiplicity of actors that are more interdependent than ever before. This has enhanced the significance of diplomacy in the conduct of international affairs. Effective participation in the international system to secure the interests of the state and non-state actors, therefore, requires an understanding of diplomacy. This programme is designed to introduce students to the nature and practice of diplomacy in the conduct of international affairs.

OBJECTIVES
The certificate programme in diplomacy is intended to enable students:

understand the nature of diplomacy in the conduct of international affairs;
effectively participate in the international system to secure varied interests; and
acquire knowledge that can qualify them to pursue further studies in this field.


ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be holders of a Kenya Certificate of Education (KCSE) with a minimum mean grade of D+ (plus) and above; or its equivalent


DURATION AND STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAMME
The duration of the programme shall be one academic year, consisting of two semesters. Students will be required to take and pass four units in each semester to qualify for the award of the certificate. There will be three contact hours per week for each unit and each unit will run for twelve weeks.
