MISSION

To preserve and develop African Cultural
and Natural Heritage and to develop critical
historical consciousness among
students aimed at preparing them
to utilize historical knowledge for economic
and leadership challenges.

The Department of History and Archaeology offers courses which lead to the award of either a Bachelor of Arts History and Archaeology or
Bachelor of Arts History or Bachelor of Arts Archaeology with other university approved combinations.
The courses are designed to create a wide understanding of historical knowledge of events and processes related to human development.

Quality Objectives


  1. To equip the students with fundamentals of Historical and Archaeological knowledge.
  2. To train students to undertake research at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and disseminate their findings.
  3. To equip students with appropriate knowledge, skills and aptitude that will make them useful participants in the socio-economic development of the society.
  4. To enhance staff training and development in order to improve service delivery.
