The department of Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation was established in the year 1997 by Dr. Edwards Kochung. the department had four areas of specialisation, namely: hearing impairement, visual impairment, physical disabilities and mental disabilities. the department has grown tremendously both in student and staff population, areas of specialisation and programmes. Currently, the department offers various areas of specialisation at certificate, diploma, undergraduate, masters and PhD levels. The current head of Department is Dr. Everlyne Nyokabi, a student alumni of the department.
